Oregon Shrooms Are Now Available to Order Online

Turn over your hourglass because it’s now just a matter of time before Oregonians can start “tripping” legally. Back in 2020, Measure 109 was passed, which permits the use of psilocybin.

Just in case you aren’t in the know, psilocybin is the active ingredient in magic mushrooms.

Since then, a volunteer advisory board of doctors, researchers, therapists and mycologists have been creating the framework for implementation effective Jan 2, 2023. Once completed, production and facilitation groups will be allowed to apply for licenses.

At this point, you probably have a lot of questions. Don’t worry, we did, too.

Some of the most prevalent ones in our minds were what psilocybin administration will look like, how much a treatment session will cost (if it’s even considered a treatment), and who exactly is going to train facilitators, and how?

Pretty thought-provoking stuff, but here at Schedule35, we like to be thorough, especially when we believe in something.

Now that’s been said, let’s dig deeper into this wondrous trip so many have been riding out.

Back in 2020, Oregon embarked on a two-year process to release the Psilocybin Services Act, making it the first state in the US to legalize psilocybin therapy. This law, coined Measure 109, was successfully passed by voters with 56 percent in favor of it in November 2020.

Psilocybin, which is a naturally occurring psychedelic that’s found in mushrooms, can also be produced synthetically. Under Oregon’s new law, the state government will have the power to license providers to give the drug to patients under their direct supervision. However, unlike cannabis, psilocybin won’t be sold in retail dispensaries.

What’s mean for you? We’re glad you asked.

Are shrooms legal in Oregon?

You can expect magic mushrooms to be legal in Oregon sometime around mid-2023. Lawmakers are currently handling all the logistics with production and distribution.

The good news is that psilocybin is slated to be the first psychedelic drug they legalize.

Only one species of magic mushrooms will be legalized for therapeutic benefits. Psilocybe cubensis has been approved because it’s easy to cultivate.

Under new law, you’ll be able to take shrooms in Oregon as whole mushrooms, powders, or extracts. This expands the variety of products you’ll be able to explore, so you can find one that works best for you.

Be cautious when it comes to foraging, though. This increases the risk of accidental poisoning, which can be lethal. You could also have a horrendous trip that’s psychosis-inducing, so it’s best to stick with products that have been vetted.

Can you buy shrooms in Oregon?

Once the law is passed, you’ll be able to see a facilitator that offers psilocybin-based treatments. This is done in three appointments: the first is a consultation, the second is drug administration, and the third is integration.

The doses you’ll take during the second session tend to be long, usually a trip spanning the length of several hours. Your facilitator stays with you the whole time, guiding you through the trip to work through anything that comes up.

The integration phase is a meeting after the trip where you discuss your experience and any revelations you had. You’ll be able to put the pieces together and make greater sense of what your trip signified to you.

There will be a lot of leeway in terms of how a facilitator chooses to conduct their sessions. The only official stance is that no one should attempt to steer or shape the experience of the trip. They’re there as a source of guidance and support, not a voice of reason.

In other words, facilitators shouldn’t tell you what your trip means or what you should be thinking or feeling. Your experience is entirely yours, and their role is to help you understand it more clearly through your own lens.
